Hi! I’m so glad you’re here.
I’m Danielle Polland, a licensed psychotherapist practicing virtually in New York and Texas.
I believe everyone has the capacity to live a meaningful life filled with connection and happiness. There may be times you encounter intense emotions, negative self-talk, body image concerns, or loud, intrusive thoughts. I’m here to offer support through the challenges that life throws your way. I invite you into a warm and non-judgmental space, where we can process your experiences while also building skills to manage them. Whether you're struggling with an eating disorder, body image concerns, obsessive compulsive disorder, perfectionism, anxiety, or a life transition like graduating from school or becoming a parent, we can work through them together to help you live a full and authentic life.
I hold a Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts from Tufts University, where I studied clinical psychology. I spent many years working with individuals, group, and families in hospitals and treatment centers, including New York State Psychiatric Institute and Eating Recovery Center. There, I was trained in multiple therapeutic modalities to treat kids, teens, and adults who are struggling with eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, anxiety and mood disorders, among other major life events and transitions. I treat each person and family with the specialized and individualized attention they deserve. I transitioned to private practice to serve individuals as they navigate daily challenges while managing their mental health and discovering how they can achieve the life they want to live.
I value a weight inclusive, gender affirming, and trauma informed approach. I practice using cognitive behavioral therapy, exposure and response prevention, and relational approaches, while also incorporating skills from dialectical behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and other therapeutic modalities. I see kids (9+), teens, young adults, and adults.
